„Geigenbühel“ were used for centuries as working material by the violin makers of the famous violin village of Mittenwald. Perhaps that is why the hill was tree-free already around the year 1900 and transformed into a meadow landscape. It was here that David Seelos and his wife, Anna Lindauer, built around 1935 a small bed and breakfast. This was a very traditional three-story building with a gable roof and a balcony running all around. Like most of the small houses in the vicinity of the village, it was shaped after the model of the summer cottages of the Tyrolean nobility in the 17th and 18th centuries: a slim, white tower building with a wooden roof and surrounding wooden balcony.
the guests returned to Seefeld and the winter sports guests all the more numerous. In the mid-1950s, the Seelos couple expanded the old guest house with additions on two sides of the house, to the north and east. These new structures protruded far out into today's parking lot, almost to the ground limit. In the north, the extension was continued under the roof of the old house, very modern at the time. A single-storey dining room was also built in front of the old house to the west, ist the flat roof could be used as a sun terrace. Thus the guesthouse also had a kitchen, the Pension Seelos was now able to offer full board. In the years of the holiday colonies for children this had become attractive, because groups of children were accommodated in the house in the summer. The house was now advertised with the slogan: "Pension 'Seelos", the house in the sun ". The sun balconies and the sun terrace now became significant accordingly.
the decision was made to build an additional, completely independent, three-storey building located in south, pushing right up to the edge of the hill (today reception and lobby). In the course of the 1970s, however, it was the next generation, Adolf Seelos and his wife, Klara Schiestl, who left their mark on the house. In 1977 they had the old building almost completely demolished and rebuilt closer to the edge of the hill, joining the new building. Only a few walls on the ground floor have been preserved from the old building to this day. The now “Hotel Seelos” presented itself after 1977 as a three-storey block consisting of two halves with two roof gables. Only a short time later, in 1982, both houses were expanded again, the facade moved towards the village center, so that the hotel facade is now flush with the halls (lobby and dining room) that protruded earlier.
the grandson of the first owners, the hotel took on its current form in 2007. He created uniform and continuous balconies and built an additional floor with a large, all uniting roof. Shortly afterwards, in 2011, the hotel passed into the hands of an investor who completed the interior work on the 4th floor. Since then, the hotel has been advertising with the slogans “Blue Alps”, “Relaxing nature” and “Holidays wholeheartedly”. But the motto “The house in the sun” still fits the Hotel Seelos like a glove. There is probably still no nicer place in the area to bathe in the sun, surrounded by a breathtaking mountain backdrop.
Die Bäume vom Geigenbühel waren schon vor Jahrhunderten bei den Mittenwalder Geigenbauern als Arbeitsmaterial sehr beliebt. Vielleicht war der Hügel deswegen um 1900 bereits lange baumfrei und in eine Wiesenlandschaft verwandelt. Genau hier errichteten David Seelos und seine Gattin, Anna Lindauer, um das Jahr 1935 eine Frühstückspension, die „Pension Seelos“. Es war ein sehr traditioneller dreigeschossiger Bau mit Satteldach und rundum laufendem Balkon. Dieser war, wie fast alle kleinen Häuser in der Umgebung des Dorfes, nach den Vorbildern der Sommerfrischhäuser des Tiroler Adels im 17. und 18. Jahrhundert gebaut: ein schlankes, weisses Turmgebäude mit Holzdach und umlaufendem Holzbalkon.
kehrten die Gäste wieder nach Seefeld zurück und die Wintersportgäste umso zahlreicher. Das Ehepaar Seelos erweiterte Mitte der 50er Jahre die alte Pension mit Anbauten an zwei Hausseiten, nach Norden und Osten. Dabei ragte das Gebäude weit in den heutigen Parkplatz hinaus, fast bis zur Grundgrenze. Im Norden wurde der Anbau, ganz modern, unter der Dachgeraden des alten Hauses fortgeführt. An das alte Haus vorgebaut im Westen entstand ein eingeschossiger Speisesaal, dessen Flachdach als Sonnenterrasse genutzt werden konnte. Somit verfügte die Pension auch über eine Küche und konnte Vollpension anbieten. In den Jahren der Kinder-Land-Verschickung war dies attraktiv geworden, denn im Sommer wurden Kindergruppen im Hause untergebracht. Geworben wurde mit dem Slogan: „Pension ‚Seelos‘, das Haus an der Sonne“. Entsprechend bedeutungsvoll waren nun die Sonnenbalkone und die Sonnenterrasse.
endschied man sich dafür, einen zusätzlichen, völlig unabhängigen, Gebäudeteil mit drei Stockwerken zu errichten, der im Süden bis zur Hügelkante vorgelagert wurde (heute Rezeption und Lobby). Im Laufe der 1970er Jahre war es aber die nächste Generation, Adolf Seelos und seine Gattin, Klara Schiestl, die dem Hause ihren Stempel aufdrückten. 1977 ließen sie das alte Gebäude fast gänzlich niederreißen und als Verlängerung des Neubaus näher zur Hügelkante wiederaufbauen. Nur einige Mauern im Erdgeschoss blieben bis heute vom Altbau erhalten. So entstand 1977 das „Hotel Seelos“, ein dreistöckiger Block aus zwei Haushälften, aber mit zwei Dachgiebeln versehen. Nur kurz später, im Jahre 1982, wurden beide Häuser noch einmal erweitert, die Fassade Richtung Dorfzentrum verschoben, so dass die Hotelfassade heute bündig über den einst vorgelagerten Sälen (Lobby und Speisesaal) steht.

Er schuf durchgängige Balkone und baute einen weiteren Stock mit neuem Dachstuhl auf, der das Haus unter einem großen Dach vereinte. Kurz später, im Jahre 2011, ging das Hotel in die Hände eines Investors über, der den Innenausbau des 4. Stockwerks abschloss. Seither wirbt das Hotel mit den Werbebotschaften „Blue Alps“, „Relaxing nature“ und „Urlaub mit Herz“. Aber immer noch passt die Devise „Das Haus an der Sonne“ dem Hotel Seelos wie angegossen. Es gibt in ganz Seefeld wohl keinen schöneren Platz, um, umgeben von einer atemberaubenden Bergkulisse, in der Sonne zu liegen.
